Riot Games announce NLC ‘multi-division league ecosystem’ for European League of Legends from 2022, Freaks 4U Gaming to take over Northern European ERL region from DreamHack (ESL) and Telia

Following the announcement earlier this week that Riot Games’ restructuring of European League of Legends had led to the postponement of NLC and UKLC Promotion and Relegation tournaments, Riot has announced more changes to European LoL. From 2022, Freaks 4U Gaming will take over the Northern European ERL (European Regional Leagues) region from DreamHack/ESL and Telia, and will implement a ‘multi-division league ecosystem’ that is ‘open to all’, similar to the League of Legends Prime League in the DACH region. NLC announces major format changes due to Riot Games’ ERL changes, UKEL postpones Open, Promotion and Relegation tournaments, fans react to Riot’s decision

The Northern League of Legends Championship, or NLC, has announced major changes to its format, causing ripple effects throughout European League of Legends. The NLC and UKLC Promotion and Relegation tournaments have been postponed indefinitely. This means the top two teams from the Telia Masters which finished last week, Lanomania (Sweden) and NYYRIKKI (Finland), will not have a chance to attempt promotion to the NLC. According to an NLC release, however, ‘activities to replace the relegations, alongside much more detailed news about the NLC’s new format will be announced in the coming weeks’. London Esports win Summer 2021 UKLC after thrilling final versus MNM Gaming

London Esports defeated MNM Gaming in a battle of two top UK-based esports organisations this evening in the UKLC finals. London won 3-1, though as always a UK League of Legends final delivered, with plenty of excitement, and game four could have swung in MNM’s favour. Game one was a dominant performance from London, who won 22-10 at the 30-minute mark with a 10k gold lead, but MNM came out swinging in game two, with a 21-8 win and 11k gold lead at 24 minutes. Jake ‘Hiprain’ Matthews is name many are familiar with in the UK, Ireland and European League of Legends (LoL) scene. The play-by-play caster has worked in many tournaments from the UKLC and NLC to the EU Masters and even Rift Rivals 2018 in Australia. But the top-tier LEC has so far eluded his stacked resume. For transparency: Esports News UK editor Dom Sacco was hired on a freelance consultancy basis to help shape earlier versions of the announcement found in Resolve’s Google Doc UK esports organisation Resolve have acquired Barrage in a deal that will see Resolve play in the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) from the Summer 2021 Season.
