Several Ubisoft games are heading to Steam, signalling a return to Valve’s storefront for the publisher. In a statement to Eurogamer, Ubisoft confirmed that their open-world history ‘em up Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be arriving on Steam on December 6th. It’ll be followed by other games from the publisher, although only RTS Anno 1800 and free to play skater Roller Champions have been touted so far. Read more

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake development jumps to Ubisoft Montréal

Remember there was a Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake that was meant to be coming out in January last year? No? Well, the game’s development team have taken to Twitter to announce that Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time Remake will be delayed indefinitely, which seems oddly fitting considering the game is about messing with time. It was meant to launch this year, but the game’s already been delayed indefinitely once before. Read more

Ubisoft is shutting down its free-to-play battle royale shooter Hyper Scape

The futuristic city of Neo-Arcadia will be closed to visitors. Hyper Scape, Ubisoft’s free-to-play battle royale, will be taken offline this spring. News of the sunsetting was announced overnight with word that servers will go dark on April 28. Released on August 11, 2020, a reason for shutting the game down was not provided. Ubisoft only stated that it was a “difficult decision to end development,” and that it will be “taking key learnings from this game into future products.” Set in the distant future of 2054, the urban futuristic game pits 100 Contenders against each other in FPS close-quarters…

Rainbow Six: Extraction review: Ubisoft’s experimental shooter tries its best, but it’s still under Siege

I’m left scratching my head with Rainbow Six: Extraction. This sci-fi FPS from Ubisoft Montreal feels like it’s pulling in multiple directions, trying to appeal to multiple crowds. It’s marked with flourishes that go a long way to express the passion that went into it, but disappoints a little where it matters. Extraction is fun, for sure, but it’s hard to ignore its clear-and-present problems. For those not in the know, Rainbow Six: Extraction is built atop the foundation of a pre-existing, rather excellent, multiplayer FPS called Rainbow Six: Siege – a game that has attracted a diehard community thanks…

Rainbow Six: Extraction is a Left 4 Dead-like that truly rewards teamwork

I was a little worried about Left 4 Dead-alike Rainbow Six: Extraction. You know, after it was announced as Rainbow Six: Quarantine, changed its name, dipped under the radar for ages, then re-emerged with news it was being delayed. Signs pointed to a shaky spin-off from Rainbow Six: Siege’s popular Outbreak mode. But no, I was totally wrong! After an early hands on with the game, I’m now at ease, at least when I’m at a safe distance. You see, the zombies here may be fewer in number, but they don’t mess about. This makes for a tactical spin on…

Ubisoft developers are leaving the company in droves – report

If you click on a link and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. Read our editorial policy. “The Great Exodus” at Ubisoft is having big consequences for the game company. Axios reports that “The Great Resignation” is hitting game publisher and developer Ubisoft hard in what is internally known as “The Great Exodus” as wave after wave of resignations are hindering its ability to function. Talent from the top of the chain is leaking out of the company at an alarming rate, with five of the top 25 people who worked on Far Cry 6 leaving, as…

Rainbow Six Siege Halloween event adds spooky hide-and-seek today

According to video games, Halloween officially starts today. Look, I don’t make the rules! Tonight marks the start of Halloween events in Overwatch, Apex Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft’s tactical first-person shooter is bringing back Doktor’s Curse, its 5v5 hide-and-seek mode where a team of monsters have to survive in a spookily decked-out Theme Park while exterminators hunt them down. This year, new operators are joining the fray too. Read more

Have You Played… Far Cry New Dawn?

After the events of Far Cry 5, Ubisoft rightly turned up the volume for its regularly scheduled stopgap game. Rather than place you in the role of gun-wielding saviour, it allows you to become a superhero… who also happens to be quite handy with firearms. Read more

Rainbow Six Siege PC will share progress with consoles but not play together

Ubisoft today detailed their plans for cross-platform multiplayer and shared progression in Rainbow Six Siege, and the news for PC players is probably not surprising. While we will get to share progression with all other platforms, we won’t be able to play together with people on console. Though, uh, we will get to play with those on Stadia and Luna? Sure, okay. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players find ancient alien bow in rock pile

Here I thought the Borderlands games were the only ones that would chuck cool loot at you when you hit clumps of dirt and rock, but it turns out Assassin’s Creed Valhalla has something to hide in its rock piles too. Over the weekend, Valhalla players managed to find a secret Isu bow by repeatedly whacking a rather unassuming pile of rocks – however, this definitely isn’t the way you’re supposed to find it. Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game kicks off its comeback tour

It’s been ten years since it originally came out, and six years since it mysteriously disappeared from digital stores, but today Scott Pilgrim Vs The World: The Game made its comeback. It’s an excellent little beat ’em up based on the Scott Pilgrim comic series (or if you’ve not read those, the film starring Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and this new version of the game comes with all the DLCs to boot. Have You Played… Far Cry Primal?

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. I’m a sucker for Far Cry’s charismatic bad guys. Since Far Cry 3, Ubisoft has obviously been aiming to write villians that thrill and terrify in equal measure, but with the stone-age Far Cry Primal they weren’t as concerned about handsome, hypnotic lunatics, or superforeigners that were here to save the day via a never-ending stream of bullets. To my eyes, at least, they wanted to stick Far Cry’s survival of the fittest hunting and gathering in a game where it…

Have you played… Prince Of Persia (2008)?

Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. It’s genuinely strange to me that more people don’t talk about the 2008 Prince Of Persia. Okay, it’s probably the art style, which deviates massively from the other games in the series. It’s also a sort of reboot with less of a focus on time-manipulation and combat, choosing instead to focus on the dynamic between the two main characters. My point is, I can see why people wouldn’t have given it a fair shake. Truth is though, it’s really damn good,…
