Street Fighter 6: Twenty fist-pounding minutes of new hands-on PS5 gameplay

Better fighters, better modes, better get some practice. Street Fighter 6 is looking polished as hell – let’s make that clear from the off. It represents a massive course-correction from the controversial mis-steps of SFV, but it hasn’t jettisoned everything from the previous game: everything salvageable has been iterated and improved upon, resulting in a blend of SF4, SF5, and a breadth of new ideas. Juri’s back, with a mix of moves from both her SF4 and SF5 incarnation. Alex’s hands-on session with the Tokyo Game Show build focused on four newly revealed characters: the powerful but unwieldy Guile, for…

Capcom has to get Street Fighter 6 right, and not just for the sake of the series’ 35th anniversary

Yes, it’s been that long since the first game showed up in arcades, revolutionizing the concept of fighting games with, er… two playable characters and massive pressure-sensitive buttons that mashed your clenched fist into mincemeat as you had to hammer them ridiculously hard to get heavy attacks. In 2022, Justin Wong Gets To Relive Evo Moment 37

One of the most famous esports moments in history happened way back in 2004 at Evo. Two now legendary Street Fighter players, Justin Wong playing Chun-Li and Daigo Umehara as Ken, were duking it out. Just as it seemed Wong was going to take the round, Daigo, with one pixel of health, parried 15 hits and came back for the win. Now in January 2022, Wong was able to relive that experience nearly 18 years later.

Most players would have just died, especially under such pressure.
