The Sonic franchise is a double-edged sword. For every Sonic Mania there’s a Sonic ‘06 There’s no escaping it, and Sonic Generations understood that. By taking some of the very worst parts of the series’ history and improving them, Sonic Generations – a decade-old title – proves that having no qualms about treating the whole franchise with the same respect is the best way to acknowledge Sonic’s long and inconsistent history. Have You Played? is an endless stream of game retrospectives. One a day, every day, perhaps for all time. The first time my friend showed me a blue hedgehog whizzing across the screen from left-to-right, I knew I had to get a Mega Drive.
