Guild win fifth major trophy as Fortnite player Hen takes first place in the FNCS EU final

British/Lithuanian professional Fortnite player Henrik ‘Hen’ Mclean achieved first place in the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) EU final yesterday. The player, representing UK esports organisation Guild Esports, took home home half of the tournament’s $300,000 top prize with his duo partner, Serbian player Aleksa ‘Queasy’ Cvetkovic. F1 Esports Series sets new viewer records again

Organisers behind the 2021 F1 Esports Series presented by Aramco say the tournament has broken viewership and engagement records again. The full series, which ran throughout 2021 and was delivered once again by UK-based esports and gaming company Gfinity, apparently achieved more than 23m views across digital platforms, a year-on-year increase of 103%. For 2021, on the digital and TV front, the F1 Esports Series’ flagship event, the Pro Championship amassed 13.8m views, representing a 47% increase from 2020. Blast to deliver all Fortnite FNCS events in 2022

Esports tournament organiser Blast, which has offices in London, has agreed to a year-long partnership with Epic Games to produce and deliver all Fortnite FNCS events in 2022. Following the success of last year’s FNCS All-Star Showdown and FNCS Grand Royale events, the year-long collaboration will see Blast operate the entire FNCS Chapter 3 broadcast schedule during each Fortnite season. UK esports organisations Guild Esports and Tenstar put in a solid showing in the Valorant Game Changers EMEA Series 1 women’s tournament finals on the weekend. GuildX, Guild’s women’s Valorant initiative first announced last September, reached the grand final, where they fell to G2 Gozen 3-1. The first map on Icebox was close, with G2 winning 16-14, before Guild took the second map (Split) 13-4. UK talent get involved with CSGO Thunderpick Bitcoin Series

UK casters have joined the talent line-up for a new Thunderpick Bitcoin Series, a new tournament series with a prize pool in Bitcoin. The Thunderpick Bitcoin Series is an online event that started on January 17th 2022 with a closed qualifier, and the CSGO tournament will run until March 7th. Other CSGO and Dota 2 tournaments within the Thunderpick Bitcoin Series are also expected to run later in the year. Aston University to host League of Legends Series backed by the NUEL, with Counterfeit and Melvinizzle on board as casters

Aston University is hosting a League of Legends Series for its students to kick off 2022. The tournament will take place from 1pm GMT on January 30th, with the grand finals getting underway at around 9pm. It will be streamed from 6pm at twitch.tv/astonapes with the losers bracket final and feature casters Peter ‘Counterfeit’ Hartnell and Callum ‘Melvinizzle’ Iles. There will be ten teams taking part, featuring players with a mix of abilities, from Iron to Master. TV and online channel E4 has launched a new gaming-related show in the UK called ‘Suped Up Set Up’. This sees streamers giving young gamers across the UK a makeover to their gaming rooms, with new PCs, decor, lighting and more aiming to transform their play spaces. The first three episodes – each under ten minutes – are live now on the E4 YouTube channel. The first episode features UK YouTuber Daz Black, who has 1m subscribers on YouTube. Riot unveils new TFT Rising Legends esports circuit for EMEA

Riot Games has announced a new competitive circuit for Teamfight Tactics (TFT), known as Teamfight Tactics Rising Legends: Gizmos and Gadgets. Taking place from November 2021 to March 2022, and operated by GGTech Entertainment, players from the EMEA region will fight it out for a share of a €43,000 prize pool.  There will be four qualification spots on the line for the TFT World Championship, the premier tournament in the League of Legends team-building auto-battler PVP strategy game. It’s been a busy few days for UK esports organisation LDN UTD. On October 20th they announced an esports collaboration with Durham University, and a day later their Valorant team won the LVP Rising Series 4, before playing in the Red Bull Home Ground qualifier. The two events were a clash for LDN UTD, who managed to (in their words) ‘speedrun’ their way to victory in the LVP tournament, beating fellow UK org Tenstar in the final, before playing in the separate qualifier versus Ninjas in Pyjamas. Rix.GG finish runners-up in first Wild Rift Origin Series Championship

UK esports organisation Rix.GG came close to an historic win in the early days of League of Legends: Wild Rift esports. The team finished runners-up in the first EMEA Wild Rift Origin Series Championship in Stockholm, Sweden, on the weekend, losing 3-1 to Team Queso in the final. Rix didn’t have the greatest group stage, finishing fourth with one win and three losses, but they beat Unicorns of Love 3-0 in their semi-final to progress to the grand final against Queso. Riot Games has announced the broadcast talent line-up for the Wild Rift: Origin Series Championship taking place between September 24th and 26th 2021.
