Kerbal Space Program 2 is getting a performance patch this week, plus a fix for the “Kraken drive” bug

You don’t need a degree in rocket science to know that Kerbal Space Program 2 didn’t exactly launch in the best of states last month. From its astronomically high PC requirements to the numerous bugs identified in our early access review, it’s been a rough ride for developers Intercept Games, but hope is on the horizon. In a new development update, creative director Nate Simpson has announced the first major patch will be arriving on Thursday March 16th, primarily focusing on “performance improvements and bug squashing”. If Gollum and The Rings Of Power isn’t enough, there’s a new Lord of the Rings game coming from Weta Workshop

Plenty on offer for Lord of the Rings fans with this latest announcement. Lord of the Rings fans should be happy, as Wētā Workshop is officially working on a new game set in the Middle-earth universe. Private Division announced the news today (August 15) and will be on publishing duties for the as-of-yet unnamed title. Last year, a job ad for a producer role at Wētā Workshop was advertised, which was supposed to be for a new project based on a “major worldwide IP.” It seems like that IP is in fact Lord of the Rings, which makes a lot…

if-danny-trejo-can-be-in-olliolli-world,-why-not-your-favourite-game-characters? Rock,Paper,Shotgun

If Danny Trejo can be in OlliOlli World, why not your favourite game characters?

The creators of skateboarding game OlliOlli World sent word that Danny Trejo, of Danny Trejo fame, would feature in their video game. After filing our OlliOlli World review, I investigated and, yup, you stumble across him in one particularly fiendish level, where he is being used as promotional bait by a scheming business frog. Good thing no real company would stoop so low as to use Daniel T’s likeness in such a cynical, ultimately successful way. Ahem. Well, if Danny Trejo can show up in this kickflip ’em up, what other cameos may appear? We used the game’s character customisation…

OlliOlli World looks rad nasty in a new trailer, duuude

As much as Brendy shouted how great OlliOlli is and as much as I trust him on virtual skateboarding (not on real skateboarding, not after he broke his collarbone), I never really put time into it. The look just didn’t grab me. Yeah, I know, okay, but don’t pretend part of your interest in skating isn’t how cool it looks. So hooray that the upcoming third game in the series, OlliOlli World, looks totally wikkid sick, rad nasty, and other such terms skaters don’t actually say. Nice. It looks really nice. Check out the new trailer below. Read more

Here’s how Kerbal Space Program 2 will use cartoons to get you into orbit

Space knower and Iain M. Banks reader (check his bookshelf) Scott Manley says Kerbal Space Program is a “gateway drug to physics”, which I sort of agree with. For me, the rocket sim was an education in things like “apoapsis” and “periapsis”, and I felt slightly more informed for having played it. But it’s not a good teacher, really, which is one of the things Kerbal Space Program 2 hopes to remedy. The game will still be tough, the processes still hugely complex, but you’ll hopefully be able to play it without needing to consult a smart friend or a…

For now, Roll7 have chatted up some of the new bits, and their excitement for World, in its announcement trailer. Read more

By Stephany Nunneley, Friday, 6 November 2020 20:30 GMT Kerbal Space Program 2 has seen another delay, and this time, it’s being pushed into 2022.Originally set to release sometime this year, back in May the studio delayed Kerbal Space Program 2 into fall 2021 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One due to complications from COVID-19.Now, according to creative director Nate Simpson, it will be 2022 before we get our hands on it.Simpson states a reason for the delay is partially due to the “immense technical and creative challenge” with the sequel.“It’s not enough to deliver a bunch of new features…

Kerbal Space Program postpones take-off, again, until 2022

T-minus another year ’til takeoff, astronauts. Spacefaring simulator sequel Kerbal Space Program 2 has delayed its launch once more, and now won’t shoot for the starts until 2022 at the earliest. It’s the third time the game’s been delayed, but the devs reckon they’ll need the extra time to make sure their cobbled-together starship is built for the long haul. (more…)

The Outer Worlds is now on Steam and GOG

After a year of Epixclusivity [correction: oh god, and the Microsoft Store, I forgot], The Outer Worlds today launches on Steam and GOG. Obsidian Entertainment’s sci-fi FPS-RPG feels a whole lot like a return to their days of Fallout: New Vegas, but in space. If you’ve been waiting for it to land on a store you like more, here you go. Or if you’ve been waiting for it to be cheaper, hey, it’s half-price right now too. (more…)

The Outer Worlds sequel seemingly in the works

By Sherif Saed, Monday, 12 October 2020 13:18 GMT Obsidian may not be done with The Outer Worlds, after all.About a year before The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian was set to ship its sci-fi RPG, Microsoft swooped in to acquire the studio along with inXile. The Outer Worlds has since released, of course, to much critical acclaim. Since then, the assumption has been that the team would now set its sights on something new with the support of parent company Microsoft. Obsidian has, of course, already revealed Avowed, its next action RPG.But it turns out, there may be more in the…

The Outer Worlds touches down on Steam this month

Rootin’ tootin’ corporate space western The Outer Worlds reckons it’s time to recruit some new interstellar cowboys. After a year of blasting its way around The Epic Games system, Obsidian’s Fallout-lite sci-fi romp is preparing to mosey on into Steam’s parlour in just under two weeks. After all, what better place for a tale of unchecked capitalism run amok than Valve’s brutally competitive storefront? (more…)
