Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 Ti review

When Nvidia released their RTX 3070 at the end of last year, it was by far the most compelling GPU in their initial RTX 30 line-up. Offering RTX 2080 Ti levels of power for a (supposed) fraction of the cost, it remains my graphics card of choice for those after high frame rates at 1440p and playing games in ultrawide. Even though graphics card prices and stock levels are all over the shop at the moment, the RTX 3070 comfortably sees off competition from both of its nearest AMD neighbours, the Radeon RX 6700 XT and RX 6800 (at least…

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti review

It’s been almost nine months since Nvidia kicked off their RTX 30 series with the RTX 3080, and longer still since anyone has actually been able to buy a graphics card at its normal price. Indeed, as the great graphics card shortage of 2020 rumbles on, the solution doesn’t seem to be simply making more of what’s already available out in the wild, but introducing newer, more expensive ones to stretch that GPU pool even further. Indeed, despite the RTX 3080 being plenty powerful enough for 60fps 4K gaming on max settings in pretty much every game going (and well…

Nvidia’s RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti are official

Nvidia have finally lifted the lid on their latest pair of RTX 30 graphics cards, the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti. Announced this morning as part of their Computex 2021 keynote (which is a bit like E3 for hardware nerds), the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti take their place as Nvidia’s new flagship gaming GPUs for 2021. Here’s everything you need to know, including their price, specs and release date. Read more

Where to buy an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti in the UK and US

Nvidia’s new RTX 3060 Ti graphics card might have come out of the blue yesterday, but if you’re looking to get hold of one Nvidia’s newly announced ray tracing GPUs, you’re in the right place. Launching at 6am PT / 2pm GMT today, December 2nd, the RTX 3060 Ti is arguably the next-gen RTX card you’ve been waiting for all along – and you can find out exactly why in my Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Ti review. I’ve been testing the enormous MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio to find out. (more…)

Just how good are AMD’s first 4K Big Navi benchmarks compared to the RTX 3080?

Yesterday, AMD gave us our first glimpse of what their upcoming RX 6000 [cms-block] graphics cards will be able achieve at 4K. While the bulk of their Zen 3 event was centred around their Ryzen 5000 CPUs, we also got a first look at their first Big Navi GPU in action, running Borderlands 3 on its top Badass quality settings at an average of 61fps. AMD also shared some figures for Gears 5 and Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare, but how do these benchmark figures actually stack up against Nvidia’s new [cms-block]? Let’s find out. (more…)

Nvidia’s RTX 3070 is coming on October 29th

Nvidia have confirmed that the [cms-block] will launch on October 29th, just a day after the planned reveal of AMD’s upcoming [cms-block] GPUs. The RTX 3070 is the third and final graphics card of Nvidia’s currently announced new Ampere family to come out this year, following on from the launch of the [cms-block] and [cms-block] last month. It’s due to deliver RTX 2080 Ti-level speeds for a fraction of the cost, practically guaranteeing that its shelf life is going to be even more short-lived than either of its still sold out Ampere siblings. Nvidia RTX 3080 vs 2080: how much faster is Nvidia’s new Ampere GPU?

You may not be able to buy it anywhere right now, but Nvidia’s new [cms-block] GPU has very much set the bar for next-gen graphics cards. It represents a significant leap over the existing RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Super, both at 4K and lower resolutions, and it’s hands down one of the best graphics cards Nvidia’s ever made. But just how much faster is the RTX 3080 over the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Super? Let’s find out via the medium of some lovely graphs. (more…)

Nvidia apologise in advance for “limited supply” of RTX 3090 today

Nvidia have issued their second apology this week, this time for the launch of the [cms-block]. The so-called “BFGPU” isn’t due to go on sale until 6am PT / 2pm BST later today, September 24th, but Nvidia’s apology confirms previous reports that there will be a “limited supply” of GPUs available when it goes on sale. “We want to apologise upfront that this will be in limited supply on launch day,” Nvidia said on their GeForce website. “We know this is frustrating, and we’re working with our partners to increase the supply in the weeks to come.” (more…)

Nvidia apologise for RTX 3080 launch, saying “we were not prepared”

Nvidia have apologised for last week’s “frustrating” [cms-block] launch, stating that demand for their new flagship GPU was “overwhelming” and that “we were not prepared for this level [of enthusiasm], nor were our partners.” The apology was posted on their GeForce blog earlier today, answering community questions such as what the overall RTX 3080 stock situation is like at the moment, and why their own ‘Notify Me’ emails were so slow to being sent out. Here’s what they have to say about it. (more…)

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090: release date, where to buy, price and specs

The RTX 3090 is the new king of Nvidia’s next-gen RTX 3000 series. Dubbed the “BFGPU” of the [cms-block] family (that’s a reference to Doom’s BFG, in case you’re wondering), the RTX 3090 is not only the world’s fastest graphics card, but it’s also the first one to play and capture games in 8K, too (although the number of 8K displays around at the moment is practically zero). No one really needs an RTX 3090, but people with more money than sense will want it anyway because it’s set to be one of the best graphics cards you can buy…

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070: release date, price, specs

Nvidia have finally lifted the lid on the RTX 3070, and it’s set to be one of the most interesting GPU releases of recent years, offering faster performance than Nvidia’s previous flagship graphics card for a fraction of the cost. It’s the third [cms-block] GPU that’s being released this year, and we finally know how much it’s going to cost and (roughly) when it’s coming out. There’s still a lot we don’t know about the RTX 3070, but I’ve gathered together everything that’s been confirmed about its price, specs and release date right here in one handy location. (more…)

Nvidia’s RTX 3000 GPUs will come with Watch Dogs Legion and a year of GeForce Now for free

If the comparatively low prices of the new [cms-block] RTX 3000 graphics cards weren’t already enough to tempt you into upgrading your GPU this year, then Nvidia’s freshly-announced RTX 3000 bundle will no doubt sweeten the deal further. I mean, RTX 2080 Ti-level performance for £469 / $499 on the RTX 3070 is already a tantalising proposition, I must admit, but anyone who buys who of Nvidia’s next-gen GPUs will also get a free copy of the ray tracing and DLSS-enabled Watch Dogs Legion for their trouble, as well as a year’s subscription to their cloud gaming GeForce Now service….

Fortnite is getting ray tracing and DLSS support for some reason

The number of confirmed ray tracing and DLSS games is still pretty small at time of writing, but today’s big [cms-block] reveal added another key addition to the slowly growing line-up: Fortnite. I’m not entirely sure why, given its art style largely consists of big, blocky worlds and colourful cartoon characters, but hey, if you’ve been particularly looking forward to doing battle with Fortnite’s zero-chill sharks with added ray traced reflections, you’ll be able to get your RTX on fix at some point during Fortnite Chapter 2’s fourth season.
