Nvidia have issued their second apology this week, this time for the launch of the [cms-block]. The so-called “BFGPU” isn’t due to go on sale until 6am PT / 2pm BST later today, September 24th, but Nvidia’s apology confirms previous reports that there will be a “limited supply” of GPUs available when it goes on sale. “We want to apologise upfront that this will be in limited supply on launch day,” Nvidia said on their GeForce website. “We know this is frustrating, and we’re working with our partners to increase the supply in the weeks to come.” (more…)

Nvidia have apologised for last week’s “frustrating” [cms-block] launch, stating that demand for their new flagship GPU was “overwhelming” and that “we were not prepared for this level [of enthusiasm], nor were our partners.” The apology was posted on their GeForce blog earlier today, answering community questions such as what the overall RTX 3080 stock situation is like at the moment, and why their own ‘Notify Me’ emails were so slow to being sent out. The RTX 3090 is the new king of Nvidia’s next-gen RTX 3000 series. Dubbed the “BFGPU” of the [cms-block] family (that’s a reference to Doom’s BFG, in case you’re wondering), the RTX 3090 is not only the world’s fastest graphics card, but it’s also the first one to play and capture games in 8K, too (although the number of 8K displays around at the moment is practically zero). No one really needs an RTX 3090, but people with more money than sense will want it anyway because it’s set to be one of the best graphics cards you can buy…

Nvidia have finally lifted the lid on the RTX 3070, and it’s set to be one of the most interesting GPU releases of recent years, offering faster performance than Nvidia’s previous flagship graphics card for a fraction of the cost.
