Is PS VR2 the last time we’ll get a Mario 64 moment?

Gaming tech hasn’t seen a revolution for a long time, but Sony’s latest hardware could be one. Tom’s a bit smitten with PS VR2, but I, a Virtual Reality Sceptic, have my doubts. So Tom donned the headset in an attempt to convince me that yes, Sony’s newest VR platform is the real deal, and well worth the buy-in. In fact, he says, it’s the most exciting leap forward in gaming since Mario 64. But I have to wonder if this costly peripheral is more akin to the Mega Drive’s 32X — an impressive add-on, but fiddly to use, and…

VG247’s The Best Games Ever Podcast – Ep.28: The best game to play while you wait for Starfield

Welcome to VG247’s Best Games Ever Podcast: Episode 28 – the best game to play while you wait for Starfield. This week’s topic has come about because of two things: Firstly, we’re desperate to do anything Starfield related because we are a games website and people click on articles about Starfield. But, rudely, it hasn’t come out yet, so we have to get creative. I say creative. I mean, we have to go on about it on podcasts and things. Secondly, we’re…

No Man’s Sky player makes a free base-building app inspired by Townscaper

One No Man’s Sky player has made a standalone app that lets you construct bases by moving, snapping together, and colouring parts ready to slot straight into the game. Technical artist Charlie Banks has popped the base-building app up on NexusMods, and has used it to create a massive robot that looks a little like the Iron Giant squatting down. Banks compares the base-building app’s simplicity to Oskar Stålberg’s procedurally generated hamlet-crafter Townscaper, although it seems a bit more complicated than that game. Read more
