C9 Perkz and separate UK League initiative raise money for charities supporting bereaved families and vulnerable children respectively

Two separate charity initiatives within the UK League of Legends/esports community recently concluded, raising thousands of pounds for bereaved families and vulnerable children. First up, ‘the other Perkz’, aka Emily Perkins, a school teacher based in Leicester in the UK, who shares an online name with Vitality pro League of Legends player Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković and is a part of Cloud9, raised just over £6,000 for The Laura Centre, in memory of a student of hers who passed away in 2015. League of Legends coach Neace has hit back at figures in the community who have criticised the price of his coaching sessions. The North American content creator has produced a lot of educational videos over the years, and in particular in 2021 he fleshed out his coaching business further, launching a separate League of Legends Challenger Coaching channel on YouTube, doing more coaching sessions and running League of Legends boot camps which have helped more than 7,000 players this year. Fifakill apologises for tweeting a homophobic slur when he was 13 years old, plans stream to raise money for UK LGBTQ+ rights charity Stonewall

British Call of Duty Warzone streamer Fifakill, who represents Lando Norris’ esports and gaming content team Quadrant, has apologised for his use of a homophobic slur. Fifakill admitted he said the word ‘f*g’ in two tweets on Twitter back when he was 13 years old. He’s now 20 according to the CoD Esports Fandom Wiki. “It is a vile and derogatory word I am disgusted by this,” Fifakill said. “This does not represent myself or my community and I hope my actions since then show that. Irish postal service An Post gets involved in esports

Irish esports tournament organiser Legion Esports has announced a new partnership with the Irish postal service, An Post. Legion says the partnership is significant for the gaming and esports scene in Ireland as ‘An Post becomes the biggest non-endemic brand to join forces with fastest growing esports brand in the country’. State-owned service An Post will be promoting its new digital money management app for young adults. Legion Esports was launched in January this year by the organisers of Ireland gaming festivals, GamerFest, with online tournaments running across the likes of FIFA 21, Rainbow 6 Siege and Fortnite.
