Interview with Excel Valorant players Moe40 and Rubino: “There’s always going to be pressure but it depends how it’s handled. We have the potential to be great, but there’s a lot of hard work to get there – with time I believe we can be a top team.”

Back in March, UK organisation Excel Esports entered the Valorant esports scene, and after failing to reach the VCT Stage 2 Masters LAN in Iceland, changes were made with Excel bringing in former Fnatic player Muhammad ‘Moe40’ Hariff and Ruben ‘Rubino‘ Villarroel Brødreskift from Team Heretics, as well as moving Vincent ‘Happy’ Cervoni Schopenhauer to be the in-game leader. The roster bootcamped in Malta for the VCT Stage 3 Challengers 1 tournament but did not manage to qualify for the event. Experienced British esports caster and content creator Ceirnan ‘Excoundrel’ Lowe says the current UK/Nordics League of Legends NLC season could be his last. Speaking to Esports News UK in a video interview, Excoundrel said: “This will probably be the last split of UK League of Legends that I ever do, at least for the foreseeable future, because I don’t think I’ll have the time with my new job which is getting announced on Monday (July 19th 2021). Interview with Dragoni – the new licensed UK esports betting provider built by a League of Legends fan focusing on choice, in-depth stats and live odds: ‘We offer more than 100 odds per game and 20+ tournaments from the NLC to the LEC’

Promoted article (in partnership with Dragoni) The esports betting market has become increasingly competitive over the years, with more traditional bookies and specialist providers than ever before. Dragoni (pronounced Dragon-eye) is one of the latter, a new specialist with a twist that aims to stand apart from the competition thanks to its level of choice and deep data sets. It’s currently offering odds in CSGO and League of Legends, with an almost absurd amount of betting options, like first tower, dragon, both teams to take the baron and many more, across a variety of leagues (more on those later). The next Insomnia Gaming Festival could be BYOC-only and take place in October 2021 at a different venue (or country!) – exclusive interview with Craig ‘Wizzo’ Fletcher

The new owners of Insomnia Gaming Festival are thinking about dropping the expo for a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer)-only event this year, due to the pandemic. SuperNova Capital – which acquired Insomnia from GAME last month – is looking at running the event in mid-October. And tickets could go on sale in the next month as a best-case scenario. But it admitted things are still ‘up in the air’ for Insomnia in 2021, depending on how the situation and government guidelines around Covid-19 change. Failbetter Games on how to not make a DLC

A couple of years ago, in 2019, Failbetter Games were thinking about a new DLC for their historical-gothic, RPG-with-a-flying-steam-train Sunless Skies. They were starting pre-production on their next game, but wouldn’t need a full team’s worth of resources on it. It would be, said CEO Adam Myers, “economically useful” to have something to work on that didn’t have a deadline. They wanted it to transform the game, in the same way that the Zubmariner DLC had transformed Sunless Sea. It involved exploring history, and accruing a kind of meddled-with-time score for being a very naughty little time meddler. By summer…

But 100 Thieves pro Valorant player Spencer ‘Hiko’ Martin had other ideas. He decided to raid Empathise’s channel, resulting in his Twitch followers jumping by more than 2,000 almost overnight, with esports pros, journalists and others in the gaming community giving Empathise attention and support. Exclusive interview with NLC caster Guldborg on getting called up to the LEC and why swearing at Quickshot is on his bucket list

Last spring, the EU Masters brought many new eyes to the wealth of talent the European Regional Leagues (ERLs) have to the wider community, with Karmine Corp’s EU Masters win shattering viewership all around. However, the focus it brought was not trained solely on the players, but also the number of casters from the ERLs that were involved. Danish NLC caster Guldborg was one of those names. On June 9th, the LEC announced its casting line-up for Summer 2021 and many names from the regional leagues were announced as guests, with Guldborg making it within their ranks.
