Game Freak’s co-founder and managing director has left the studio for senior role at The Pokemon Company

They’re leaving one Pokemon company for another. Game Freak’s managing director, Junichi Masuda, has left the Pokemon game studio. Masuda left the studio he co-founded on May 31 to join The Pokemon Company as its chief creative fellow. He has supported the Pokemon series for many years since the development of Pokemon Red and Green, and in his new position, he will be involved in the development of new services and products at The Pokemon Company. “From Pokemon Ruby Sapphire to Pokemon X and Y, I have been a director and involved in the development of many video games such…

Tune in for the latest on the game. If you are looking forward to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you’ll want to keep an eye on the official Pokemon YouTube channel tomorrow, June 1. That’s because a new trailer will drop at 6am PT, 9am ET, 2pm UK. Hopefully, this means some new gameplay and more information on the game in general, as we still don’t know too much about it and late-2022 will be here before you know it. The announcement of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came during Pokemon Day 2022’s Pokemon Presents, where it was revealed the Game Freak-developed…

Pokemon Violet and Scarlet releasing late 2022 and fans already love the starters

After Pokemon Legends Arceus and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in the last 12 months, Nintendo has announced yet another set of Pokemon games. It’s a pretty good time to be a Pokemon fan; for the first time in a very long time, we’re getting three major Pokemon releases within a 12-month period. Following both Pokemon Legends Arceus and Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, The Pokemon Company has announced Pokemon Scarlet and Violet – a brand new duo of open world Pokemon adventures that will launch on Nintendo Switch in late 2022. The announcement of these new titles came during…

Pokemon Legends: Arceus update fixes instances of screen freeze, makes Cherrim easier to catch

Ver. 1.0.2 update is now available. Nintendo has released an update for Pokemon Legends: Arceus that fixes a few issues players have run into. For starters, there was an issue when while offline, the player’s screen would freeze after trying to pick up a lost satchel by throwing a ball containing a Pokemon. This has been addressed. An issue where a certain event would not occur during a particular Mission has been fixed, preventing the scenario from proceeding as intended. That’s rather vague, but Nintendo may not wish to spoil what the Mission is for players who have yet to…

Pokemon Legends: Arceus has already sold over 6.5 million units

The feat was accomplished in less than one week. Nintendo announced overnight that its latest Pokemon game, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, has already sold over 6.5 million copies. The game came out last week on Friday, January 28, which means the figure was reached within at least six days of release. In Japan, the game sold over 1.4 million units within 48 hours of release, making it the second best-selling Switch game released in Japan. In comparison, the last mainline entry in the franchise, Pokemon Sword and Shield, moved 6 million units during its first week on sale. The game has…

Pokemon Legends: Arceus – 4 things you need to know about Hisui, the land before Sinnoh

The latest Pokemon game takes us to Sinnoh, but in a way that we’ve never seen before. What do we know about the historical land of Hisui? Rolling hills and deep valleys with crisp, mountain air. Long, golden beaches with crystal waves lapping at the shore. Young, bustling settlements brimming with human activity. This is Hisui; the setting of the newest Pokemon game, and a location unlike any we’ve ever seen in the Pokemon universe before. You most likely know this region as Sinnoh – that’s what it’s called in the modern-day Pokemon games – but this title is set…

6 other historical settings we want Pokemon to visit after Legends: Arceus

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a major event for the Pokemon series. Not only is it breaking with many series traditions to present a clearly Breath of the Wild-inspired open-world take on the Pokemon series, but it’s also taking a swing at a relatively underused concept for the Pokemon franchise: a historical story. We’ve seen this before, briefly, in the DS spin-off Pokemon Conquest, which told the story of feudal Japan in the Pokemon universe. But this month’s title is the first time the concept has been explored in a main-line, full-fat Pokemon title. Legends: Arceus is set in the Sinnoh…

This 2004 Interview With The Creator Of Pokémon Is Full Of Details I Love

One of my favorite ways to relax in the evenings is to watch this Twitch channel that streams subtitled episodes of the Japanese TV series Game Center CX. If you’re not familiar with the show, most episodes focus on comedian Shinya Arino’s desperate struggles to beat old console games. (It was recently announced that now even the PlayStation 2 is old enough to fit the show’s retro format. Excuse me while I crumble into dust.) However, when I tuned in the other night, I caught part of a special episode from 2004 in which Arino spends a great deal of…

Say hello to Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres – three new species of beetle

By Dom Peppiatt, Sunday, 21 March 2021 12:47 GMT Three new species of beetles in Australia have been named after Pokemon‘s iconic trio of legendary birds from the first generation of monsters: Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres.Professor of entomology at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) – Dr. Darren Pollock – and Yun Hsiao, a PhD student at the Australian National University, have made some Legendary Pokemon real after they’ve named some newly discovered beetles after Gen I’s Legendary birds – and it’s all thanks to the scientists’ familiarity with the series when they were growing up.The newly-named Binburrum Articuno, Binburrum Moltres and…
