VG247’s The Best Games Ever Podcast – Ep.41: The best game that you can’t forgive

When a video game annoys you for the last time, the grudge stays with you forever. Welcome to VG247’s Best Games Ever Podcast: Episode 41 – The best game that you can’t forgive. Sometimes even great video games are associated with bad memories. Maybe the last boss was just too annoying for you to finish. Maybe it was the game that made your 360 red ring. Maybe the day you got it was the day your dog died. Whatever it is, we all have that one game we can never go back to because it’s just too traumatic. Or, you…

Elden Ring YouTuber pits 50 of Caelid’s starved dogs against all the bosses

Who, if any, can stand up to that many puppers? An Elden Ring YouTuber has answered a question that none of us knew we had: which bosses can survive against 50 starved dogs? BjornTheBear, a content creator who has released numerous videos pitting bosses against all manner of ludicrous enemies, uploaded the video only two days ago. In that time, 268,000 people have seen the gruesome results and for good reason, there are some interesting outcomes in there. Bosses such as Gideon the All Knowing, Godrick, Rennala, and Mohg all get rushed down and overwhelmed by the pack of dogs,…

New Elden Ring patch nerfs Endure Ash of War and attempts to fix Inescapable Frenzy…again

The patch may seem small, but it means big things for PvP balance. A new Elden Ring patch has just been released, rushing in to fix several problem points in the game that were making lightwork of both PvP and PvE content. The targets? Ash of War Endure, which was totally nullifying incoming attacks and flipping online duels on their head, as well as Inescapable Frenzy which was still not quite right in spite of numerous nerfs keeping it down. Patch 1.07.1 is available right now, meaning players will need to restart their game and download the update in order…

Pingu meets Elden Ring thanks to this fan-made Unity project

If you click on a link and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. Read our editorial policy. One bored Unity developer decided to create a Pingu x Elden Ring project just for fun. Remember Pingu? The kids claymation program that was on TV years ago, where the lovable penguin Pingu went out his daily life eating fish and getting yelled at by his dad? Thanks to the work of one Unity developer – Adrian Mendez – Pingu has found a new home far from the arctic as a boss in an Elden Ring inspired project uploaded to…

Elden Ring chad ‘Let Me Solo Her’ is immortalised with new mod

The legend of ‘Let Me Solo Her’ is never to be forgotten, especially with Garden of Eyes’ latest mod. After players noticed the presence of one particularly skilled player, ‘Let Me Solo Her’, in Elden Ring last week, the legend has been immortalised with a new mod. The player, who sports only a pot for a hat and nothing else, rose to stardom last week after multiple Tarnished came together to note the existence of a near-naked multiplayer summon fighting Malenia solo. Malenia, Blade of Miquella, is arguably one of the toughest bosses in Elden Ring, if not one of…

Elden Ring has buffed the big boy with the little horse again

A new Elden Ring patch has restored some power to Starscourge Radahn, a boss so delightful he has a whole festival celebrating him. A previous patch in mid-March made Radahn a pushover, see, and apparently that’s partially because a “bug” caused the intended nerfs to go too far. So, they’ve fixed that bug, giving Radahn some power back, but still leaving him slightly less mighty than he originally was. Read more

Elden Ring has added a new NPC and new quest phases in a big patch

A big new patch hit Elden Ring today, adding new content while fixing and tweaking some of the old. The new NPC is named Jar-Bairn and goodness me, what could be cuter than a wee pot pal? The update has also added new quest steps for several existing NPCs. On top of that, the patch brings bug fixes, buffs for many sorceries, and other tweaks and bits. Read more

Elden Ring speedruns are already completing it in less than 30 minutes

While Elden Ring is a vast game you can marinate yourself in for weeks, soaking up its vast open world and big vibes until you almost feel new arms budding along your shoulders, it’s also a game you can tear through at breakneck pace. Speedrunners have been grafting to cut times, and now someone has broken the half-hour mark by finishing the game in 28:59. Ridiculous. Watch the run below. Read more

Elden Ring details day-one patch

With Elden Ring launching tonight (or already out in some places), Bandai Namco have released notes for the day-one patch. While this is probably more notable to console players buying the game on a ‘disc’ (some sort of tangible version of Spotify, I think?), perhaps you might be interested to see what’s changed since the version of the game reviewers reviewed? You know, all those glowing, effusive reviews, who evidently weren’t super-bothered by these issues. But it’s good to know. Read more

Elden Ring’s launch trailer reveals new things, so be warned

While Elden Ring doesn’t launch for another few days, the launch trailer launched today. Like many people, I’m trying to avoid the new grim adventure from the makers of Dark Souls as much as possible, because I want to go in innocent, wide-eyed, full of surprise, and wholly unwarned of the many deaths awaiting me. So I’ll share the launch trailer with you but I won’t watch it myself. Even the game’s marketing team warn that it shows things we’ve not seen before. Read more

Elden Ring PC launch and preload times confirmed

Bandai Namco have finally confirmed PC launch timings for Elden Ring, and they are different to console timing. While the console versions will have staggered launches around the world at midnight local time (mostly), on PC it’s a simultaneous global launch. Depending on where you live, this could mean you get to start playing on PC hours before your consolable chums—or you could be waiting hours. Preloading is due to start tonight, too. Read more

Dragon’s Dogma is the perfect game to play before Elden Ring

Playing Capcom’s most underrated action RPG might help us better understand (and wait for) From Software’s newest. It’s wild to think Elden Ring is almost here. With hype reaching all-time highs and diehard FromSoft fanatics crawling up the walls in anticipation, it might be time to consider revisiting (or trying out for the first time) an overlooked game that could help us better understand the Lands Between. Dragon’s Dogma, initially released back in 2012, was jointly directed by Devil May Cry veteran Hideaki Itsuno and Monster Hunter’s Kento Kinoshita, and it shows: there was a really strong focus on hack-and-slash…

After another six hours of playing Elden Ring, I feel it might be an all-timer

From Software’s Elden Ring has what it takes to be one of the very best games of all time, if it can stick the landing. Previewing games is weird, sometimes. You can describe a game’s features, its setup. Provide hints as to its story. These are the easy hits. More difficult, however, is describing how a game feels. You’ve come here to read about Elden Ring, I know. But indulge me for a moment, yeah? Feelings about games can be nebulous, and difficult – if not impossible – to properly quantify. They’re entirely subjective, and when based upon just a…

The first 6 hours of Elden Ring is so much vaster than I could have imagined

I’m happy to announce that rapper Rick Ross is richer than he’s ever been. That’s according to a song from his latest album: “Richer Than I Ever Been”. He may be referring to his own pockets, but it can’t be a coincidence that he’s perfectly summed up yet another of my early hands-on sessions with FromSoftware’s action-RPG Elden Ring. That’s because I’ve now been able to return to the starting area of Limgrave, this time on PC and with unfettered access to all the nooks and crannies we’ll be exploring in just a couple of weeks time – and I…

How long to beat Elden Ring? From Software reckons about 30 hours

From Software’s latest game will take you about 30 hours to complete just the story, with much more content on offer for those that seek it out We haven’t got that much longer to wait now until publisher Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware finally unleash the horrors of Elden Ring into the world. But, if you’re anything like me, you’re probably wondering how long it’s going to take to beat this game for the first time. After all, FromSoft’s games are know for being particularly tricky to complete, and your first run-through the title is usually the hardest. Well, we’ve…
