That a nice, round number. Stardew Valley has hit another sales milestone by moving 20 million copies worldwide on all platforms. The newest figure is valid as of March 2022, and 13 million of those copies were sold on PC alone. Just eight months ago, it was revealed the game had sold 15 million copies, which means an additional 5 million copies were sold since the figure was reported in September. Speaking with PC Gamer, the game creator Eric Barone called the 20 million copies milestone “really amazing,” and that he couldn’t believe the game has “reached this level.” That…

Stardew Valley’s latest update features some important technical changes for modders

There are some general fixes in the update as well. Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone has released a new update for Stardew Valley on PC, and it contains some important technical changes for modders, quality of life changes, and some bug fixes. For modders, update 1.5.5 contains architectural changes. Basically, the update migrates the games from XNA (.NET 4.5.2) to MonoGame (.NET 5) which will “futureproof” the game allowing mods to access more than 4GB of RAM. Various internal changes were also made for mod authors. Some of the quality of life changes include the ability to purchase craft stacks of up…

Stardew Valley’s next update will add a beach farm

Beach farm! Beach farm! Beach farm! I might just be overexcited because I’m playing a lot of Stardew Valley at the moment, but developer ConcernedApe has revealed the game’s next update will come with a brand new farmstead – the beach! It might sound like a nice little seaside getaway, but this farm seems like a tough one to get started with – mostly because sprinklers won’t work on that pesky sand. If you fancy even more of a challenge, ConcernedApe says update 1.5 is bringing some “Advanced Game Options” too, making community centre bundles and mine rewards a little…

Stardew Valley’s next update will let your friends farm in split-screen

Somehow, there is still more work to be done on Stardew Valley before Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone is finished farming. Update 1.5 has been ticking along for some time, and now it appears the next big pastoral patch will add split-screen farming for up to four players. While Stardew’s had co-op for some time now, you’ll soon be able to make sure none of your fellow farmhands are fiddling with the crops while you’re not looking. (more…)

Stardew Valley 2 still isn’t out of the question

Charming farming game Stardew Valley was great at launch and it just keeps getting better with each of the free updates. With yet another of the kind, Stardew Valley 1.5, currently in the works, I’ve wondered how we can expect continued development. Developer ConcernedApe says that he isn’t ready to commit to any specific next step for Stardew, but he’s also not ready to be done with it yet either. As for what could be coming in the future, neither Stardew Valley 2 nor more updates are out of the question. (more…)
