The RPS Selection Box: Hayden’s bonus games of the year 2022

These honourable mentions lists are a lovely little wrap up of games we couldn’t squeeze into the 2022 Advent Calendar, and mine is also a useful reminder that I didn’t just spend the entire year playing Elden Ring. Lots of time was spent as a lowly tarnished, getting smacked around by big fucken madlads with a dragon for an arm, sure. But I also got lost in a thrilling narrative adventure, laughed at flatulent renditions of our national anthem, swept up loot in Al Mazrah, and became enamoured with a lil gator. Here’s to 2022, everyone. Read more

The games that defined 2022 for the RPS guides team

Guides work is a very strange beast, and one that we don’t talk about as often as we maybe should. By its nature, we here in guidestown can feel a bit isolated from the rest of RPS. Our guides aren’t very visible to our regular readers. No one hops onto a website like this and says to themselves, “Well now! I wonder what guides have been written today that I can spend my time reading through!”. The vast majority of people who read our guides come straight from a Google search into something specific like “Can I romance Yennefer and…

Modern Warfare 2 suplexes Christmas with festive multiplayer makeover

Shipmas arrives in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 tomorrow, with the game’s Christmas update for multiplayer. The reimagined version of the classic Shipment map – introduced with last week’s Season 01 Reloaded midseason update – will be festooned with decorations, along with the bodies of your enemies. COD now has its own Santa, too, and I wouldn’t want to tangle with him. You can see what I mean, and catch a glimpse of the holiday version of Shipment, by watching the trailer below. Read more

A Warzone 2.0 player has discovered a ridiculously simple infinite money glitch

Hopefully it’s just as simple to fix. When Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0’s new DMZ mode was announced, plenty of fans figured it would be good fun. Painted out to be Call of Duty’s take on Escape from Tarkov, a high pressure squad-based experience in which players compete against each other for loot, many players have walked away from the mode less than impressed. Catch the launch trailer for Warzone 2.0 here. However, one recent exploit might coax players back into DMZ. First reported by GameRant, a player has found a basic glitch to replicate that can bag them hundreds…

Call Of Duty Warzone 2 review: a worthy successor

Not long ago I watched my Warzone Legacy, a two-minute-long compilation of my best stats from the first game, which included my K/D ratio and hours played and the like. It was undoubtedly produced by AI to feed the social media machine, yet the cold, hard numbers transported me back to the warm embrace of Verdansk, a battle royale map my mates and escaped to almost every evening as the pandemic raged. The silly 120 second video shot me right in the feelings. My history with the first game means that I enter Warzone 2 with an embarrassing tangle of…

Warzone 2 patch makes armor piercing ammo no longer pierce armor

In one of the strangest updates we’ve seen to Warzone 2 and Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty has decided AP rounds no longer PA. What do you call armor-piercing ammo that doesn’t pierce armor? That’s the question hot on the lips of the Call of Duty community right now as it comes to terms with a very strange update from the latest patch in Warzone 2. Have you seen Warzone 2 in action yet? We’ve already taken a look at what the Modern Warfare 2 patch notes contain over in our dedicated article, but there’s another set of changes…

The Cha Cha Slide arrives in Warzone 2

Warzone 2 is many things: battle royale, free-to-play, chock-full of guns. One thing I hadn’t thought of it as, at least until now, was a dance simulator, but then I’ve never used Tiktok. A cunning Warzone 2 player has managed to convince the enemy team to abandon their hostilities and indulge in a spot of shuffling to DJ Casper’s classic turn of the millennium hit Cha Cha Slide. It’s an odd choice, particularly considering they’re jumping around in a cemetery, but each to their own. Read more

If you click on a link and make a purchase we may receive a small commission. Read our editorial policy. The peripheral that provided unfair advantages in the first Warzone is still working. Bad news for those who hoped to avoid hardware-enhanced players in Warzone 2. The Cronus Zen — which allows owners to mod their equipment to provide unfair advantages — seems to work in Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2. One Youtuber — Lethal Panda — has multiple videos uploaded on the Cronus Zen, including one that shows how to set up a “soft aimbot” for Warzone 2,…

Warzone 2.0’s loot system has players stumped and frustrated already

Numerous complaints are flooding online? Is there substance here? Or just salt? Warzone 2.0 has a new looting system, thanks to an expanded backpack feature that offers greater space and as such looting options when you manage to kill someone or come across something tasty lying around Al Mazrah. The question on some players’ minds — is it too complicated? This comes only a day since the launch of Warzone 2.0, as the community runs around and plays with the habits fostered thanks to two-plus years of the original Warzone and its frantic and hasty looting system. Whereas before items…

Waiting for datacenters in Warzone 2.0 or Modern Warfare 2? You’re not the only one

A lot of people are getting irritated with WOLTERS – FRANCIS tonight as network traffic prevents players logging in to Call of Duty’s big new update. Have you got home from work today eager to try Warzone 2.0 – the latest battle royale experiment from Call of Duty, Raven, Infinity Ward, and Activision? Activision is not shutting down Warzone entirely, but you won’t be able to play it for a few days soon. The original Warzone will not be sunset, after all. Activision has confirmed that, with the impending launch of Warzone 2.0, the existing game will not be replaced. However, it will be going offline for a time to make room for Warzone 2.0. For starters, the old game will be renamed to Warzone Caldera, to distinguish it from Warzone 2.0. That…

Modern Warfare 2 will give you a tonne of multiplayer rewards for finishing the campaign

Call of Duty really wants you to play the campaign in Modern Warfare 2, even if you only care about multiplayer. As we approach the launch of Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward and Activision have revealed several incentives to get you to play – and finish – the game’s campaign. Call of Duty is clearly going all out this year to drum up enthusiasm for what’s traditionally been the game’s least-played mode. Like with the beta rewards before them, there are 17 unlocks up for grabs here, and one – the most significant – tied to finishing the campaign. The…

Modern Warfare 2: Can it recapture the glory days of Xbox Live?

The original MW2 dominated a much less crowded marketplace. ^ Stick around after the ads for some pristine 1440p footage and a discussion about Modern Warfare 2’s place in the modern era of shooters. As infuriating exercises in being the severalth thing in a series but having the same title as the original go, the Modern Warfare reboot wasn’t half bad. We spent a bunch of time in the multiplayer beta for MW2 ahead of the full release at the end of this month, and found a solid (if a little muddled) Call of Duty game in there. But we…
