UK talent and companies recognised in 2021 Esports Awards industry nominations – new nominations include Mac, Caedrel, Pansy and more

The Esports Awards has this evening revealed more finalists for this year’s industry categories, and there are a host of UK-based talent included. Today, it was announced that UK coaches up for awards include Mac and MarkyB, plus there’s analyst Caedrel, colour casters Vedius and Johnnyboi_i, and play-by-play casters Machine, ODPixel and Pansy up for awards. Previously, this year’s nominees with UK offices included the likes of Dexerto, Hitmarker, The Story Mob, Hitmarker, Blast, Faceit and more. Women in Games 2021 UK esports award winners announced, including Fluke, Frankie Ward, Geomancy, Roehampton Uni and more

The 2021 Women in Games Awards took place last night, with a host of top esports talent acknowledged across the globe. In terms of the UK talent recognised, esports host Frankie Ward won the Most Influential Esports Host award, while Rainbow Six talent Emi ‘Fluke’ Donaldson was awarded Most Influential Esports Shoutcaster or Analyst. The University of Roehampton – which launched a women in esports scholarship last year – picked up the University or College Games or Esports Diversity Initiative award. Gayming Awards returns for 2022 with in-person event in London

The Gayming Awards will return for its second year, with Twitch on board as long-term presenting sponsor. Launched in 2021, the awards set out to celebrate diversity and inclusivity within games and interactive media, recognising game developers, publishers and industry individuals. The Gayming Awards is billed as ‘the world’s first and only award ceremony celebrating all that is great about LGBTQIA+ video gaming’. UK esports talent nominated for 2021 the*gameHERs awards as voting opens

A host of female UK esports talent has been recognised in the*gameHERs awards – with voting now open. The*gameHERs is an online platform that aims to support and empower women gamers, and the 2021 ceremony will be its second annual awards event to honour and celebrate women in the gaming industry.  Early last month, nominations opened for 36 individual awards across six categories including esports, game development, content creation, charity, marketing and rising stars at the collegiate level. Blast win a trio of trophies at new UK-based esports business awards show GameFace

Esports tournament organiser Blast won a hat trick of trophies at the inaugural GameFace Awards ceremony last week, which was held online. GameFace is a new business-oriented esports awards show, aiming to ‘make heroes out of the people behind esports organisations and to connect them to global brands’. The ceremony celebrated everything from the best social media and internal events teams to the best partnership activations and tournament experiences. Women in Games opens nominations for revised esports and gaming awards

Not-for-profit organisation Women in Games has called for entries to its reworked global esports and gaming awards event. The awards have been expanded to cover six newly defined categories and 20 awards. Women in Games, which has been running awards for 10 years, says it would like to welcome ‘all the women who are working and participating in competitive gaming and esports, with a full suite of awards designed to celebrate all those contributing to the development of an open and transformative esports sector’. IGF’s 2021 nominees announced, mostly correct

Videogame awards are good for three things: they encourage people to continue creating new work; they direct attention towards particular pebbles among the otherwise amorphous landslide of new game releases; and they give bystanders like me something of mercifully little consequence to gripe about when nominations don’t align with our personal tastes. I’m sad to report that the Independent Games Festival has delivered only two out of three in 2021.
