The octo-core AMD Ryzen 7700X is $299 in the US

AMD’s Ryzen 7000X3D processors are now available (in theory), so we’re seeing some big discounts on previously-released options that bring them into newfound relevance. Such is the case with the Ryzen 7 7700X, the middle child of the Zen 4 lineup and an absolutely beastly performer when it comes to gaming thanks to its full-fat eight-core, one-CCD design. This chip launched at $399 but is now $100 cheaper thanks to a discount code at Newegg, where you can pick up the 7700X for $298.99 when you use code BTSCP2655 at the checkout. Read more

The Ryzen 5600 is much better value than the 5600X – especially with this deal

AMD’s Ryzen 5600X was a favourite of value-oriented gamers when it debuted in late 2020 – to say nothing of RPS head big honcho Katharine – so unsurprisingly AMD followed it up with an even cheaper model, the 5600, about a year later. This non-X variant performs more or less identically, with a slightly low rated boost clock that translates into one or two percent worse performance in CPU-limited scenarios. Given the fact that the 5600 is £13 cheaper on Amazon right now, we’d recommend it over the X any time. Read more

AMD announced the first Radeon RX 7000 GPUs at RTX 4080-beating prices

We finally have AMD’s answer to the Nvida RTX 40 series: the Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX, the red team’s first graphics cards build on the RDNA 3 architecture. These are both high-end GPUs, set to cost $899 and $999 respectively when they release on December 13th, but you’ll note those prices are oodles cheaper than the £1269 / $1199 RTX 4080 and the £1679 / $1599 RTX 4090. They’re also structurally distinct from the current Radeon RX 6000 cards to an extent that, frankly, is quite surprising to see from AMD GPUs. RDNA 3 uses…

AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 series GPU reveal is coming on November 3rd

Cheekily dropping the news two hours before Nvidia’s RTX 40 series showcase, AMD senior vice president Scott Herkelman has tweeted a date for the official reveal of the RDNA 3 graphics card generation: November 3rd 2022. That’s less than two weeks before we’ll see how AMD will combat the GeForce RTX 4090 and its brethren, most likely taking the form of the Radeon RX 7000 series of GPUs. Read more

AMD’s fastest gaming processor is down to $375

The ‘world’s fastest gaming CPU‘, according to AMD, is on sale in the US today. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D is down from $450 to $375 via Antonline’s Ebay store, an awesome price for an extremely quick eight-core and 16-thread processor blessed with AMD’s new stacked L3 cache design, which allows it to beat almost every current-gen CPU in gaming performance. AMD launch FSR 2.1 for sharper GPU upscaling

FSR 2.0 – AMD’s graphics card-powered upscaling tech for boosting games performance – already has a newer, prettier version. AMD have announced FSR 2.1, which is available to developers immediately, and has made its playable debut via a Farming Simulator 22 update – just a couple of days after FSR 2.0 got its latest big-name backing from Red Dead Redemption 2. Pick up a powerful Ryzen 5000 processor for £113

The Ryzen 5 5500 is one of AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 processors, but a strong competing Intel lineup means it’s already gotten a 33% reduction on Amazon, dropping from £176 to £113. This six-core twelve-thread chip is a solid upgrade over the likes of the Ryzen 5 3600 from the previous generation, but mostly makes sense in a new budget gaming build or as an upgrade for an older Ryzen 1000 or Ryzen 2000 system. God of War now has AMD FSR 2.0 support on PC

A surprise God of War PC update has made it one of just three games to support AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) 2.0. This significantly improved upscaling option, introduced a few weeks back in Deathloop (and more recently making it to Farming Simulator 22), completely replaces God of War’s FSR 1.0 setting, giving Radeon GPU owners a performance booster that comes much closer to Nvidia DLSS on quality. AMD Ryzen 7000: everything we know so far

The AMD Ryzen 7000 family of CPUs is preparing for launch in 2022, two years after the Ryzen 5000 series. AMD have spent a good chunk of that time on its laptop chips, but back in the realm of desktops, Intel’s 12th Gen Alder Lake chips have leveraged major design improvements to beat the Ryzen 5000 series on performance and features. One suspects it would take a considerable rejigging for these Ryzen 7000 chips to get back into the best gaming CPUs conversation – and so far, that’s exactly what seems to be happening. Now, AMD haven’t revealed all things…

New RX 6800 XT price drop: $700 on B&H Photo or Amazon

AMD’s RX 6800 XT graphics card offers a stupendous amount of performance for 1440p or 4K gaming, and now it’s hit a new low price in the US. B&H Photo is asking $699 for a reference design by Sonnet, and that’s been matched by Amazon too. That’s $30 cheaper than it was last week, and shows the continued march of graphics cards towards reference design MSRPs. Read more

FSR 2.0 tested: AMD’s new upscaler closes the gap on DLSS

AMD’s FSR 2.0 upscaler is out now – in only one game, Deathloop, but still. This is a big moment for the heavily upgraded FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution), as it’s basically attempting to fight Nvidia’s rival DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) with some of its own tactics. There’s none of Nvidia’s machine learning enhancements, but whereas FSR 1.0 was a simple spatial upscaler – meaning data used for upscaling a frame could only come from within the frame itself – FSR 2.0 uses a temporal upscaling technique similar to that of DLSS. This allows it to draw data from previous…

They’re asking £345 for the 12-core, 24-thread processor when you use code SAVE20 at the checkout, and tossing in three months of Game Pass Ultimate and free next-day shipping to boot. That’s £20 cheaper than the current Amazon price, and a massive drop from the £430+ going rate at the beginning of the year. *OK, the Ryzen 9 5950X is technically faster, but it costs way more and the difference in gaming performance is miniscule.
