UK talent joins Rainbow Six Invitational broadcast line-up

Ubisoft has announced the broadcast talent line-up for the Rainbow Six Siege Invitational – and there’s a host of UK talent on board. UK casters and hosts on board for this year’s Invitational include Dezachu, AceOfPyrite, Fluke, Xrtroika, Demo, Kixstar and (US/UK). That represents 40% of the total talent line-up. The full line-up also includes other top hosts from around the world, including Jess, Interro, Zenox and more. Fnatic and Team Liquid qualify for Valorant Masters LAN in Iceland

What’s been a top weekend for UK esports so far is just getting better and better. Two Valorant esports teams featuring a host of UK talent have qualified for the world’s first international Valorant LAN. Team Liquid and Fnatic will be the two European representatives at the Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) 2021: Stage 2 Masters, which takes place in Reykjavík, Iceland from May 24th to 30th. They beat Oxygen Esports and Gambit Esports 2-0 respectively today in the EMEA Stage 2 Challengers Finals, and will be playing one another in the grand final of that tournament tomorrow (May 2nd). British Esports Championships student finals to take place at a live venue in July

For transparency: Esports News UK editor Dom Sacco used to work full-time for British Esports and currently does some freelance work for them The British Esports Association has partnered with Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies to host its 2021 student finals. The British Esports Championships consist of League of Legends, Overwatch and Rocket League tournaments for students aged 12+ in schools and colleges across the UK. Confetti’s 400-seat live events venue in Nottingham, known as Metronome, will host the grand finals on July 3rd 2021. Red Bull Kumite London, a new edition from the fighting game tournament Red Bull Kumite, will head from Japan to the UK for a two-day event in May. The invitational – taking place on May 22nd and 23rd – will include the first major Street Fighter V tournament of 2021 and a Guilty Gear Strive showcase. Guild Esports Rocket League team wins RLCS X Spring European Regional

UK-based organisation Guild Esports has won its second major trophy, after its Rocket League team achieved first-place in the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) EU Spring Regional. This took place on April 15th to 18th 2021 and saw Guild Esports’ Rocket League players Thomas ‘ThO’ Binkhorst, Joseph ‘Noly’ Kidd and David ‘Deevo’ Morrow secure first place. They defeated Aether in the finals (who also featured UK player eekso), with a continuous peak Sunday broadcast of over 100,000 viewers on Twitch. Last weekend saw the grand finals for the Spring Season of UK university league NSE (National Student Esports) play out, as top university sides from across the country went head-to-head, Jake Nordland reports. NSE’s 2020/21 season saw more than 1,700 teams from 100 universities across the UK – the highest participation in NSE’s history. £6,800 in prize money was claimed during the spring season as the UK’s best battled it out live on NSE’s Twitch channel. NUEL Spring 2021 grand finals roundup: Which UK university teams won?

The grand finals for the spring season of UK university league NUEL concluded between March 28th and April 2nd, after 15 weeks of competition. As the culmination of a season with a £25,000 prize pool, the action took place on NUEL’s Twitch stream and was co-hosted by almost 30 student content creators from the university esports community. Manchester City FIFA player Shaun ‘Shellzz’ Springette has won the 2020/21 ePremier League (ePL) after a tense grand final. Shellzz won the first leg 4-2, but Leeds United’s Olle ‘Ollelito’ Arbin took the second leg 3-1, making the final score tied 5-5, taking the final to extra time.
