Devilish dating sim Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is out now

Ah yes, one of the many valid spinoff arcs for animated stories: the one where the gang goes to camp. Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp is the new sequel to teenage monster dating sim Mosnter Prom. This time the gaggle of monster teens is headed on a camping trip to the woods where—wait no I don’t think anybody dies. Not anyone that isn’t already undead, anyhow. The multiplayer dating sim is out now with double the demons to date. (more…)

The Raspberry Pi 4 Vulcan Driver Is Getting Closer

Eben Upton, Raspberry Pi creator and CEO of Raspberry Pi Trading, confirmed progress on the Vulkan driver for the Pi 4 in a blog post on the official Raspberry Pi website earlier this week. According to the new announcement, the Raspberry Pi 4 Vulkan driver is officially part of the open-source collection of Mesa drivers. Mesa provides implementations of other APIs, like OpenGL, OpenGL ES and OpenCL. As of late, the team has passed over 100,000 tests and completely implemented the full API for Vulkan 1.0, according to Upton’s blog post. When we last reported an update on the Vulkan…

The Humble store is having a Halloween sale too

What’s a holiday if it doesn’t come with a sale on games loosely related to its theme? A terrible trick, which is part of what makes Halloween a real treat—discounts on horror games galore. The Humble Bundle are joining in on spooky sales with their own Halloween offers. Some are, appropriately, horror games. Some others are just vaguely grim, I guess. But hey, they’re all on sale. Exclusive: Phison’s E18 NVMe SSD Controller Hits 1.2 Million IOPS

Competition is heating up in the storage world as new PCIe Gen4 SSDs enter the market. While Phison was first to market with a PCIe Gen4 SSD and led the industry with chart-topping performance, the PS5016-E16 controller has been recently dethroned by newer, faster rivals. Phison’s new E18 SSD controller looks to recapture the lead, though.  Phison’s current-gen PS5016-E16 has been outclassed by the likes of Samsung and its powerhouse 980 PRO. With speeds of 7/5 GBps and the ability to sustain 1 million IOPS, the 980 Pro easily outshines E16-powered SSDs.  Additionally, rival SSD-controller maker Silicon Motion just announced…

The Brotherhood Of Steel are stomping into Fallout 76 in December

After that big Wastelanders update that added human NPCs and a legit storyline to Fallout 76 earlier this year, the story quests are rolling right along with the upcoming Steel Dawn update. Militant tech fanatics Brotherhood Of Steel are entering Appalachia while apparently doing what they do best: stomping around in power armor and scowling. A new teaser trailer lets on just a little bit about what the new story will add to online Fallout. (more…)

Fake Rumors Suck: Will the Real RX 6000 Please Stand Up?

There’s a ton of excitement and anticipation surrounding AMD’s upcoming RX 6000, aka Big Navi. We get it: We really want to see how AMD stacks up to Nvidia’s new Ampere GPUs. Could AMD nab the top spot on the best graphics cards and GPU benchmarks? Maybe! But let’s douse the flames a bit. Here’s why we urge caution and not getting too caught up in all the hype. First and most importantly: Every benchmark ‘leak’ so far is in question. We don’t have confirmation of GPU core counts, clock speeds, or even model names. Perhaps more critically, final drivers…

Take photos of strange magical beasties in Penko Park today

If you’re a fan of the old Pokémon Snap games, you might have some interest in Penko Park, which came out today. You’re given a simple task: wander around a mysterious abandoned wildlife park and take photos of the weird and wonderful creatures that reside there. It sounds pretty tame, but I think Penko Park has massive Bugsnax vibes and I’m somewhat suspicious it might be a bit spooky. Get a load of the trailer yourself, surely I can’t be the only one who thinks that. (more…)

Could We See an Xbox-Branded Streaming Stick in the Future?

In a recent interview with Stratechery (via The Verge), the Xbox commander and chief Phil Spencer spoke on Xbox’s future and extending the reach of the brand. During the interview, Spencer hinted at a potential Xbox-branded streaming stick, “I think you’re going to see lower-priced hardware as part of our ecosystem when you think about streaming sticks and other things that somebody might want to just go plug into their TV and go play via xCloud.”.  Spencer then followed up with, “You could imagine us even having something that we just included in the Game Pass subscription that gave you…

Those Silent Hill PS5 reboot rumours are reportedly “credible”

By Alex Calvin, Friday, 23 October 2020 17:03 GMT Those rumours about a new Sony-made Silent Hill might be a bit more on the money than previously thought. That’s according to Kinda Funny’s Imran Khan, who recently said on a podcast that those reports were “credible.”“If Sony’s also making a Silent Hill – which we don’t know that they are, those are just rumours – I would assume that Sony’s not part of [Kojima’s project], if they’re making a separate, Silent Hill-like game, but who knows? The industry’s been weirder than that,” he said. That being said, he does say that he…

Even free from all its beta troubles, Black Ops Cold War is competing with a once-in-a-decade phenomenon

Black Ops Cold War is fighting an uphill battle against a Call of Duty game that didn’t quite play by the same rules. The state of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War beta really should worry everyone, not just Activision. Even when it’s not stuttering or glitching, its weapon balance and movement mechanics are archaic. Its Netcode is serviceable at best, questionable at worst, and its presentation in everything from visuals, animation, sound design feels like a major step back. Some of these problems will be cleaned up by launch, no question. Even then, Black Ops Cold War could not…

The Long Dark is becoming an actual survival horror game for Halloween

The Long Dark has been plenty scary for years, in my opinion, but this year Hinterland Studio are upping the horror vibes for spooky season. Escape The Darkwalker is a new in-game event that will force you to stay on the run ahead of an invisible, evil entity. Because being stalked by wolves and weather sure wasn’t enough. Escape The Darkwalker will run from October 29th to November 12th. (more…)

Intel’s Xeon Scalable ‘Ice Lake-SP’ Volume Ramp Delayed to Q1 2021

Multiple delays of Intel’s 10 nm process technology have affected the company’s roadmap in many ways. While the company seems to be on track with its client 10nm CPUs, server processors are a whole different matter as they have different qualification and production cycles. In its Q3 FY2020 conference call, Intel announced that it would have to delay initial shipments of its 3rd Generation Xeon Scalable ‘Ice Lake-SP’ CPUs to Q1 2021.   “We and our customers are excited about the upcoming launch of our 3rd Gen Xeon Scalable product, the Ice Lake-SP,” said Bob Swan, CEO of Intel, during the company’s earnings…

The Red Lantern’s chill sledding adventure would be better if less stuff happened in it

D’you like dogs? I like dogs. How about five dogs? Hot diggidy daffodil, now we’re talking. In The Red Lantern you’re a musher who has decided to adopt a bunch of sled dogs and take ’em over the Alaskan wilderness to a distant cabin that you’re pretty sure definitely 100% exists. This is, of course, how idiots die. Solo sled across Alaska, they said! It’s easy, they said! But even though I knew this was a roguelite survival adventure going in, I wasn’t expecting there to be quite so much adventuring to it and so little chill sledding with my…
